Soho Theatre Writing Workshop

As part of the NEW WORK FESTIVAL 2024, Soho Theatre will be hosting a playwriting workshop at Curve to introduce new writers to their Verity Bargate Award.

This is one of a number of workshops hosted at venues across the UK and Ireland. The workshops are timed to prepare writers ahead of submitting their new play for the Verity Bargate Award 2024.

Writers will be provided with information about the scope of Soho Theatre’s programme, their three theatre spaces, and what storytelling and theatricality mean to them, as well as learning about the award and Soho Theatre’s heritage of new writing and current programs.

Writers will then investigate structure, form, content, diverse storytelling, and how these elements of playwriting speak to each other. Finally, it will explore how playwrights can discover and hone their voice to set them apart.
