Siobhan Cannon-Brownlie

Siobhan Cannon-Brownlie and Heritage Expert Jess Jenkins, have been working with a group of young people at English Martyrs.

Siobhan-

I have been working with the young people at English Martyrs for a few weeks now, and we have been creating a piece celebrating Alice Hawkins, and other local suffragettes. The young people have been on a trip to the records office, and have had a special visit from local historian Jess Jenkins. Although the subject matter can be quite challenging and even dark at times, the young people are on their way to creating a funny, uplifting and celebratory piece that incorporates their youthful energy with their passion to share these stories.

The Group will be re-connecting after the summer break, and we look forward to their performing at Curve on Saturday 8th of September.
