CURVE ANNOUNCES EXTRA PERFORMANCES OF THE WITCHES
Thanks to public demand and record ticket sales, Curve is delighted to announce an additional five performances of Roald Dahl’s The Witches, adapted by David Wood and directed by Artistic Director Nikolai Foster. The extra performances follow the announcement of an additional week of performances for Curve’s other Christmas production, Oliver!, directed by Paul Kerryson, and the recent addition of 100 new seats in the auditorium meaning more people than ever can enjoy a Christmas show at Curve.
Curve Chief Executive Chris Stafford and Artistic Director Nikolai Foster said:
“After a successful opening in Hong Kong and a rousing reception from audiences here in Leicester, we are incredibly proud to offer five more performances of David Woods’ beautiful adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Witches. Everybody at Curve has been humbled by the terrific response from our young audiences, many of whom are visiting the theatre for the first time. We are thrilled more young people and their families will be able to see the production when we visit venues across the UK after our Curve run, culminating in a run at the home of our brilliant co-producers, the Rose Theatre, Kingston.”
Marking the first Christmas season under Curve’s new leadership team of Chief Executive Chris Stafford and Artistic Director Nikolai Foster, the announcement comes at the end of Curve’s most successful year to date, which saw the theatre’s turnover reach £7.8m, their highest since opening in 2008.
Audiences will be able to enjoy five additional performances; 18.00 on Friday 15 January, 11.00 and 14.30 on Saturday 16 January and 11.00 and 14.30 on Sunday 17 January in Curve’s studio theatre. Visitors will also be able to enjoy a range of witchy treats in the form of non-alcoholic cocktails at Curve’s bar.
