Curve on the Square returns August 2025 - and you're all invited!

FREE WEEKEND OF LIVE PERFORMANCES AND FUN FOR ALL IN LEICESTER’S CULTURAL QUARTER
Leicester residents and visitors of all ages will be able to enjoy a free weekend of top-class entertainment from the city’s Curve theatre as Curve on the Square returns Friday 8 to Sunday 10 August.
Sponsored by De Montfort University (DMU), Curve on the Square will take place on Orton Square in the Cultural Quarter. All performances and activities as part of the festival will be free, with no need to book.
Performances at Curve on the Square will begin 6pm to 9pm on Friday 8 August, continuing 11am to 9pm on Saturday 9 August before the weekend comes to a close 11am to 5pm on Sunday 10 August. Throughout the weekend Curve will also operate an outdoor bar, serving a range of drinks and snacks.
Since 2021, the bi-annual Curve on the Square event has brought together Leicester’s communities and provided performance platforms for talented local artists. In 2023, the event showcased over 120 local artists and community group members – with performances ranging from musical theatre, dance, interactive family workshops, live bands and musicians, Dementia Friendly sing-a-longs, spoken word poetry and beyond – and was enjoyed by more than 2,200 audience members.
Curve’s Chief Executive Chris Stafford and Artistic Director Nikolai Foster said:
“We’re thrilled Curve on the Square will return this summer. Since the very first extravaganza in 2021, it’s been a joy to see Leicester’s communities and visitors to the city coming together to enjoy incredible performances from talented local artists.
“We’ll tightly cross our fingers for good weather, but come rain or shine, we know all those who join us will be in for a fantastic weekend of free entertainment.
“See you on the Square!”
Curve is now calling for local performing artists to join the weekend’s line-up, with 15, 30, 45 and 60-minute paid performance slots available.
