Lunch with Hairspray star David Witts, a Golden Ticket, signed photographs and exclusive hospitality packages are nearly 40 items now available to theatre-lovers on eBay in a new fundraising initiative launched by Leicester’s Curve theatre today.
Celebrating the first five years of Curve, the online auction runs from 9 – 18 January and aims to raise money to support the theatre’s ongoing creative work within the local community. All proceeds from the auction will go towards the theatre’s participation and learning programme, Experience Curve, of which its annual community productions, Curve Young Company, Over 55s programmes and Little Movers activities are key aspects.
Bidders can chose from a selection of unique lots including lunch for four with ex- Eastenders heart-throb, David Witts, who will be appearing as Link Larkin in Hairspray from 28 February. One lucky bidder can win a Golden Ticket, offering a one-off opportunity to be a special guest at Curve’s produced show press nights, a personalised backstage tour of the theatre as well as VIP invitations special events across 2014.
Amongst the Curve memorabilia up for grabs are photographs from Curve’s best-loved shows and behind the scenes images from the rehearsal room, kindly donated by theatre production photographers, Pamela Raith, Johan Persson, Catherine Ashmoreand Keith Pattison. All images are part of the 5th Birthday Photography Exhibition currently on display in Curve’s foyer Gallery Space.
Signed show programmes and VIP hospitality packages to Hairspray and Curve’s Christmas 2014 production of The Sound of Music are also available to bidders.
Hannah Hallam Curve’s Head of Business Development commented;
“Our fundraising auction is a very special opportunity for theatre lovers to bid for their own memento from Curve’s first five years whilst at the same time helping to support the work we do within the local community. Our Experience Curve programme has grown enormously during our first five years and provides exceptional theatre experiences for over 16,000 people each year. As a registered charity, this work can only grow and thrive with the support of our audiences and the regional community. Happy bidding!”
